The Navamsa Chart
APPLYING the principles of locating the Lagna, and the nine
planets, against the Nakshatra Padas (Star Quarters), enables us
to construct the Navamsa Chart for the birth we are analysing and
charting (namely in Chennai on February 1, 2000 at 11 a.m.). We
find that the Lagna, and the nine planets, are respectively in
the following Rasis and their subdivisions of Star Quarters
Lagna in Mesha in Aswini 2; Jupiter in Mesha in Aswini 2; Saturn
in Mesha in Bharani 2; Rahu in Kataka in Ayilyam 4; the Moon in
Dhanus in Moola 1; Venus in Dhanus in Moola 3; the Sun in Makara
in Thiruvonam (Sravana) 3; Mercury in Makara in Avittam
(Sravishta) 2; Kethu in Makara in Avittam 2; and Mars in Kumbha
in Poorattadhi 3.
Our readers will now find it easy to see that the Navamsa
positions of the Lagna and of the planets are as follows:
Lagna is Rishabha; Jupiter is in the Lagna in Rishabha; Saturn is
in Kanya; Rahu too is in Kanya; the Moon is in Thula; Venus is in
Dhanus; the Sun is also in Dhanus; Mercury is in Meena; Kethu is
also in Meena; and Mars is in Dhanus. Thus we have the Navamsa
Chart completed.
Queries answered
Continuing the discussion of Raja Yoga Bhangam (query by Dr.
Venkatesh of Mysore), we now take up another illustration. This
is of a native with Kataka as Lagna. Mars is exalted in the
Seventh in Makara. Exalted Mars in the Seventh (a Kendra, or
Quadrant) gives rise to Ruchaka Yoga and its benefits, as one of
the Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas. In the horoscope, Saturn is in
debilitation in Mesha. With the Lord of that Sign, namely Mars,
being exalted, there is also scope for Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga.
Withal, Mars is a Yoga Karaka for Kataka Lagna. However Mars and
Saturn, both first-rate malefics, aspect each other in this
horoscope. Mars aspects the Tenth, the Lagna and the Second,
while Saturn casts his baleful glance on the Twlefth, the Fourth
and the Seventh. With Lagna Lord not strong, and Maha Dasas and
Bhukthis not running favourably at the right times for this
native, the expected Raja Yoga benefits are prevented from
fructifying.
