BCCI suspends five cricketers
The Board of Control for Cricket in India
today suspended five cricketers - Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay
Jadeja, Nayan Mongia, Ajay Sharma and Manoj Prabhakar - for a
period of 15 days. The action comes two days after the Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report on match-fixing was made
public.
Emotional scenes as Basu makes his exit
Mr. Jyoti Basu, the longest-serving Chief
Minister in the country, today left Writers' Buildings - seat of
the West Bengal Government - for good. Chanting of slogans,
farewell salutes, waving and weeping by supporters marked the

Suraj Bhan shifted to H.P.
Mr. Suraj Bhan has been moved out of the Raj
Bhavan in Lucknow and posted as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
His place in Lucknow has gone to Mr. Vishnu Kant Shastri,

militants in Budgam district of central Kashmir this afternoon
