Girija Vyas re-elected PCC chief
JAIPUR, NOV. 25. Ms. Girija Vyas was today unanimously re-elected
president of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). Her
name was proposed by senior Congress leaders, Mr. Nawal Kishore
Sharma and Mr. Natwar Singh, and seconded by the Chief Minister,
Mr. Ashok Gehlot, at a meeting of the electoral college at the
PCC headquarters.
Later, the State election authority chief, Ms. Urmila Ben Patel,
announced Ms. Vyas' election. Ms. Vyas was first appointed as the
PCC chief after the then president, Mr. Ashok Gehlot,
relinquished office on ``becoming the Chief Minister two years
back''.
The election for the PCC chief was earlier scheduled for November
12 along with the polling for the AICC president. But the State
delegates left the selection of State president to Ms. Sonia
Gandhi by passing a unanimous resolution.
