K. Krishnanunni, GSI chief

CALCUTTA, DEC. 1. Eminent geologist K. Krishnanunni today took over as the Director General of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) following superannuation of his predecessor Dr. S.K. Acharyya.

Mr. Krishnanunni, who spent a successful stint at the Director of the National Natural Resource Management System (NNRMS) in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 1985 to 1989 has a vast experience in remote sensing, GSI sources here said.

The Member-Secretary of the Planning Commission taskforce mission approach during the Eighth Plan period, Mr. Krishnanunni was also the ex-officio Advisor (Minerals) to the North Eastern Council and member of the Bramhaputra Board from 1994 to 1998.
