Rao didn't take action till Masjid demolition: Chavan
NEW DELHI, DEC. 13. Mr. S.B. Chavan, who was Union Home Minister
in the Rao Cabinet, alleged that the former Prime Minister, Mr.
P.V. Narasimha Rao, did not take any action throughout the
developments on December 6, 1992.
``That day, no decision was taken till the structure was
demolished and, as Home Minister, I could not take a decision
till a Cabinet meeting was held. Even after the demolition, no
decision was taken to dismiss the BJP Government in Uttar
Pradesh. It was upto the Prime Minister and nothing was done till
the last moment'', he told Aaj Tak TV in an interview.
He said everything was discussed ``but the decision had to be
taken by him (Rao) and he did not do so till the end''.
Speaking on the role of the BJP, Mr. Chavan said, ``I was of the
view that one cannot trust them (RSS and BJP) and that is why I
posted paramilitary forces at the site.''
