Holidays made hassle-free

NO LONGER the cramped and crowded Thambu Chetty Street, from where the 50-year old Chennai-based travel company, was functioning. A bad start to a good holiday.

E-service is doing away with the agony before the ecstasy of travel. Witness the development at one of these early birds, Bharat Travel Service, which has hitched itself to the speeding infotech revolution, providing travel solutions at the touch of a button. The travel industry has been using a totally web-based system, to fulfil specific needs of globetrotters. Launched with an array of power-packed features which can be easily customised and with capabilities to be integrated with any third party systems for achieving higher efficiency, travellers can now get real value for money and for the first time commit service level agreements to customers,`` says Mr. S. Mahesh, Director of the company.

Translated into simpler terms, sitting in Chennai, travel-buffs can access the customer service group call centre at the travel office here and get a wide-range of travel related services and organise their journey plans, says Mr. Prajod Varma, Head of the e-Business Strategic Business Units of the company.

This technology will enable the counter staff to provide not only critical and accurate information but also customise even the personal needs of the traveller.

Called the ''Slipstream`` based on Customer Enterprise Relations Management, the system has been developed by EloraSoft Inc, a U.S.-based company.

With more tour operators, agents and the service providers getting hooked to online systems, it should be easier for everyone to make `pucca' arrangements for travel, stay, and local visits.
