Postal staff refute Govt. claims in ads

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 16. Postal employees have contested Government- funded advertisements that charge staff unions with going back on agreements signed on the Fifth Pay Commission payscales.

The Government's claims in the advertisements, specially those relating to upward revision of payscales for sorting assistants and higher payscales for Group D staff, are ``misleading and incorrect'', according to the All-India Postal Employees Union Class III.

PTI reports:

In Calcutta, the Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Tapan Sikdar, told presspersons today that the Centre has sought the help of the military, the National Volunteers Force and school students to keep the essential postal services running.
