Masjid site not for sale: BMCC
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, DEC. 19. The Babri Masjid Coordination Committee has
rejected the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's formula, suggesting
payment of compensation to Muslims for acquiring the disputed
site at Ayodhya. ``The disputed land, including the Babri Masjid
site, is not for sale at any price,'' said Syed Shabuddin, its
convener.
In a hard-hitting statement today, Mr. Shabuddin said: ``Any
construction activity for the proposed `mandir' anywhere in the
disputed area, whether outside the Babri Masjid site or
otherwise, will be unlawful so long as the site plan subsumes the
Babri Masjid and covers any part of the disputed area.''
The Centre could not release or gift any part of the acquired
land against the existing status quo order of the Supreme Court,
and before the special bench of the Allahabad High Court
delivered its judgment in the suit on the title of the disputed
land, which included the masjid site.
Mr. Shabuddin called on the VHP trust to revise the site plan for
the `mandir' to exclude the disputed land, particularly the
masjid site.
