Krishna's fiat to BMP

BANGALORE, JAN. 9. The Chief Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna, today issued a fiat to the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) to clear the garbage, debris, posters and banners in the City by month end. Mr. Krishna, who cancelled his scheduled visit to Delhi today on account of illness, later held a discussion on second phase of ``Swatchha Bengalooru''.

The senior officials who attended the meeting were Mr. Krishna Kumar, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Mr. Shanthanu Consul, BMP Commissioner, Mr. S.V.Ranganath, Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Mr. M.K.Shankaralinge Gowda, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Mr. Yashwanth Chief Engineer, BMP.

The Chief Minister brought to the notice of the officials the numerous complaints about the deteriorating civic conditions in the City published in newspapers and also received by him through e-mail. The BMP should respond immediately to the complaints, he added. He also wanted the BMP to take steps to clean up the Bellandur, Ulsoor, Nagavara, Yediyur and Kempambudi tanks in collaboration with the Irrigation Department.
