Ramadoss meets Karunanidhi

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JAN. 9. The PMK leader, Dr. S. Ramadoss, called on the DMK president and Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, here this evening and discussed issues related to the coming elections to the State Assembly. The 20-minute meeting at the Chief Minister's Gopalapuram residence assumed significance in the context of the ongoing tussle between the PMK and the TRC, and Dr. Ramadoss blowing hot and cold over the DMK leader for not convening a meeting of the NDA in the State to sort out the problems.

Mr. Karunanidhi, when contacted, told The Hindu that the discussions were of a general nature. To a query, Mr. Karunanidhi said the PMK leader did broach the issue concerning PMK's stand- off with the TRC, led by the former Union Petroleum Minister, Mr. Vazhapadi K. Ramamurthy.

Mr. Karunanidhi said they would again pick up the threads of their discussion by the end of January, after the interim budget was presented to the State Assembly.
