No shifting of circus animals to zoo
By Our Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD, APRIL 11. Mr. Justice B. Sudershan Reddy of the A.P.
High Court on Wednesday recorded the undertaking by three
Government pleaders that the orders of the District Collector
Ranga Reddy directing the shifting of the animals from Great
Rayman Circus to the Nehru Zoological Park will not be
implemented till Thursday and posted the matter to Thursday for
further hearing.
The writ petition filed by the management of the circus had come
up for hearing in the afternoon. The petitioner contended that
the Collector had no jurisdiction to pass such ex parte order
merely on a complaint by some enthusiasts. The petitioner said
that the order was passed without giving any opportunity to be
heard. When counsel for the petitioner insisted on interim stay
orders, the judge felt that there should be full-fledged hearing
in the matter and indicated that no coercive steps be taken till
Thursday. The Government pleaders said that no coercive steps
will be taken till the matter was heard on Thursday.
