Organic farming for better quality of tomato

MANY SCIENTIFIC reports have confirmed that the best quality products could be obtained through organic farming. Experimentally it was proved in tomato. Physiologically speaking, the supplied humic organic substances are able to release plant required nutrients during its fruit development stages. The required essential elements must be supplied to the plants for better quality of fruits which may not be available to the plants.

Hereaids, Terracottem polymer in observing 100 per cent organic means of nutrients and water from supplied organic compost and releasing it ease to plant fruiting stages. Terracottem at 4.5 g per plant in combination with FYM @ 15/ ha-1 Azospirillum at 2 kg/ ha-1, Phosphobacteria at 2 kg/ ha-1 and Neem cake at 250 kg/ ha-1 help improved the tomato yield and quality.

The quality such as total soluble solids, ascorbic acid, titrable acidity, pH of the juice, flesh thickness and lycopene were improved over control. Shelf life of the fruits under ambient condition was upto 12 days.
