Sex scandal in Sangali

KOLHAPUR, APRIL 20. Close on the heels of the alleged sex scandal incident in Satara, where about seven women were blackmailed and sexually exploited promising them entry into films by a group of people recently, an Anganwadi Sevika of Sangli became the victim of such type of crime.

A complaint of sexual exploitation and blackmail was registered by the affected woman, a widow who hailed from Haripur, with help of local social organisation representatives with Sangli city police Sangli police sources said today. Police sources said acting on a complaint, police immediately swung into action and arrested ten persons involved in the incident including the main suspect Vilas Nagesh Jamadade, hailing from the same place as the woman on Thursday.

The affected woman in her complaint stated that she was working as a ``Mahila Anganwadi Sevika'' and also had a side job of sewing clothes for her livelihood. She was first introduced to Jamadade, who was working as a production manager in a private company, by a woman, who used to visit her house for getting her clothes stiched.

The accused Jamadade promising to marry her, sexually exploited the woman and later raped her This was going on for the last three years, police said, adding that Jamadade also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anybody, police sources said.

Jaisingpur Nagarpalika school board former chairman was among the arrested, who reportedly helped Jamadade police added.
