TMC nominee papers rejected
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 25. The nomination submitted by former
legislator, Mr. P. Moorthy (TMC), seeking to contest the next
month poll from Oussudu (reserved), was rejected today.
The returning officer, Mrs. Devi Mathews, said the nomination was
rejected on the ground that the person was a migrant Scheduled
Caste. It was clearly stated by the Election Commission that a
candidate for Scheduled Caste reserved constituency should be a
member of Scheduled Caste of that State as per the Pondicherry
Scheduled Caste Order 1964.
The returning officer said the nomination of Mr. P. Sundaraju, a
dummy TMC nominee, was, however, found to be in order.
The nomination of another candidate, Ms. V. Santhi of the CPI
(M), was also rejected on the same ground in the same
constituency.
The returning officer said the nomination of one K. Bhuvanesan, a
dummy CPI (M) nominee in Tirubuvanai (SC) constituency, was also
rejected on the same ground.
Protest by CPI (M)
Mr. T. Murugan, CPI (M) secretary here, told newsmen that a
detailed letter registering protest by the party against the
rejection of the nomination of Ms. Santhi, was presented to the
election authorities.
