Elections will expose NDA Govt., says Congress
Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI MAY 12. While the outcome of the current Assembly
elections still hangs in balance, the Congress has begun to mount
pressure on the Government. The senior Congress leader and CWC
member, Mr. Arjun Singh, has predicted the unravelling of the
Vajpayee-led NDA Government. ``These elections will mark the
beginning of the countdown of the NDA,'' he told The Hindu.
Mr. Singh who returned to the Capital after a hectic round of
electioneering said that one fallout of the current elections
would be that the teflon image of the Prime minister and his
claim to probity will be severely dented. ``He will now have to
look for scapegoats everyday,'' said Mr. Singh.
According to Mr. Arjun Singh the election ``will be a significant
pointer to the wide trust and acceptability that Ms. Sonia Gandhi
is acquiring''. This would help the party immensely in
consolidating itself, he said.
He said the results of the current elections will show that the
determined effort made by the Congress to expose the Vajpayee
Government has found favor with the people.
