Assembly to meet on May 22

CHENNAI, MAY 17. The newly-constituted 12th Tamil Nadu
Legislative Assembly will first meet here on May 22. The elected
members will take oath that day.
The veteran legislator, Mr. M. A. Abdul Latheef, who was elected
from Vaniyambadi, will administer the oath to the members as the
pro-tem Speaker.
Mr. Latheef will be earlier sworn-in pro-tem Speaker by the
Governor on May 19. He was appointed to the post by the Governor
today. The election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker will
take place on May 24, followed by the Governor's Address on May
25, according to a press release from the Legislative Assembly
Secretariat.
