India's task

Sir, - It would be unrealistic and foolish of India to depend on the U.S. to put an end to its own terrorist problem. It is up to India to adopt necessary measures to root out this menace.

The U.S. is taking an interest in combating terrorism because it is only now that it has been attacked so severely. The first priority of the U.S. will be its own security interests.

It will not pressure Pakistan beyond a point to close all terrorist camps on its soil unless they pose a problem to it. Therefore, it is time India got tough to protect its own interests.
