Cabinet expansion likely on Nov. 11

PONDICHERRY, NOV. 6. With the Centre approving the names of Mr. Lakshminarayanan, PMC legislature party leader, Mr. M. Chandrakasu (Deputy Speaker) and Mr. E. Valsaraju (former Health Minister) for induction into the Ministry headed by Mr. N. Rangasamy, the first phase of Cabinet expansion is likely on November 11.

These names were recommended to the Centre by the Chief Minister through the Lt. Governor last week.

PMC merger with Cong.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lakshminarayanan said here today that he had presented a letter, signed by himself, to the Speaker, Mr. M. D. R. Ramachandhran, last night, informing the latter of the PMC merger with the Congress as per the decision the PMC executive committee took on October 31. Consequently, the strength of the Congress legislators has gone up to 15 from 11.

The letter requested the Speaker to make seating arrangements for the members in the Assembly accordingly.
