KARIMNAGAR, FEB. 25. People's War Group naxalites blasted a police station building under construction at Pothkapalli village under Peddapalli sub-division in the early hours of Monday. The Superintendent of Police, R. S. Praveen Kumar, said naxalites belonging to the Peddapalli LGS squad numbering 10 went to the police station building and detonated it by planting gelatin sticks. The building and the walls of SI and constable quarters were partially damaged in the impact of the blast. In protest against the naxalites' act, villagers gathered in large numbers at the gram panchayat office and went in a procession raising slogans against extremists. It may be recalled that naxalites blasted the Pothkapalli police station in 1996 and snatched away 26 weapons and killed a constable. The SP, and other police officials visited the spot and pacified the agitated villagers.
