`Forest Dept. too busy to sign pact'

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE APRIL 29. The Forest Department came under fire on Monday for delaying the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Government to plant five crore saplings in Bangalore.

The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, who launched the first phase of the Nirmala Bangalore project on Monday, expressed displeasure over the delay on the part of the Forest Department officials in signing the MoU.

``We have been planning to plant over five crore saplings in the City in the past one year.

Though we have discussed the matter with the Forest Department officials many times, they are yet to enter into an agreement with us. I don't know whether they will ever find time for this important programme,'' he said.
