The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), on Wednesday, announced that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), have sanctioned October 24 to November 1, 2003, as new dates for the Afro-Asian Games.
At a meeting here between Sports Minister, Ms. Uma Bharti, and the IOA President, Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, the two sides also discussed the modalities of India's bid for bigger events.
While the IOA was planning to have the 2010 Commonwealth Games for which a proper bid has to be submitted by 2003 the Sports Minister had gone a step further by announcing that India should bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.
