The film bagged six awards in all at the Z-Gold Bollywood Awards function even as "Lagaan", which missed the Oscar earlier this year, excelled in five categories with its hero Aamir Khan chosen the best actor. Aamir also got the critics award for best male role while Ashutosh Gowariker was selected the best director as also the best storywriter for "Lagaan". The best actress award went to Kajol for her role in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham". Three movies in each category were selected on the basis of a poll among non-resident Indians and the final selection was made by an experts' committee. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to a popular hero of yesteryears, Jeetendra. The award for the best supporting role and the critics' award for best female performance was bagged by Raveena Tandon for her role in "Aks" while the best supporting role in the male category went to Hritik Roshan for his role in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham". The chief executive officer of Bollywood awards, Kamal Dandona, said the response of the NRIs during nominations had shown how Indians outside the country loved and craved for movies from home. PTI
