Suicide bid by actress Gajala

HYDERABAD July 22. A Mumbai-based Telugu film actress, Gajala, attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills last night at a guest house in Banjara Hills. She was admitted to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and her condition was stated to be out of danger. Reasons for her suicide attempt are not yet known.

Gajala came to the city on July 16 to take part in the shooting of film, `Bharatasimha Reddy' and she participated in the shooting on Sunday morning and returned the guest house in the evening. Her companion, Sultana, who came from Mumbai and another film actor, Arjun, found her in unconscious stage on Sunday midnight and rushed her to the NIMS.

The upcoming actress played lead roles along with NTR Junior in Student No. 1, O Chinnadana, Allari Ramudu. The Panjagutta police said the case would be transferred to the Banjara Hills police station since the guest house, Prashant Kutir, where she attempted suicide falls under its jurisdiction. A case under section 309 of the IPC has been registered.
