Zee TV partners Cartoon Network

MUMBAI AUG. 15. In a major development in the children's TV entertainment business, Zee TV has snapped its ties with Nickelodeon India and has instead aligned with the latter's rival Cartoon Network for a daily two hour block programme on its network commencing September 1.

According to a Zee Telefilms release, the media major said it had tied up with Turner International India Pvt. Ltd. to launch Cartoon Network programming on Zee TV in Hindi. Interestingly, in a separate communication, Zee's earlier partner Nickelodeon said it had decided not to renew its two hour daily block deal ending August 31.

Nickelodean will focus on its 24 hour channel and is keeping its option open for a tie-up with any other channel, it said adding that the company was in discussion with several players with regard to multiple language syndication and will shortly announces our future plans. Titled `Cartoon Network on Zee', the Hindi animation hour will air twice daily on Zee TV. The block will be aired between 8.30 AM and 9.30 AM and 6 PM and 7 PM from Monday to Saturday, Zee said. On Sundays, the programme will be telecast between 8 AM and 9 AM and 6 PM and 7 PM, the release added.
