MARUTI UDYOG Ltd., in an aggressive marketing strategy, has unleashed another irresistible package for the customers with the introduction of the Esteem Diesel. In addition, the Esteem, India's first and best selling luxury car that recently clocked 1.5 lakh units in the domestic market, gets a complete makeover. All Esteem variants get a host of features that enhance their functionality and looks. Maruti has upgraded all Esteem variants, that is, the Esteem LX, Esteem LXi (with power steering), VX and AX (with automatic transmission). The Esteem LX now comes with new seat fabric, new design front grille and new speedometer dial colour. Besides these features, the Esteem LXi will have internally adjustable LHS ORVM (outside rear view mirror) and full wheel covers. The luxurious variant of the Esteem VX will now be called the Esteem VXi along with the Esteem AX would boast of new "inside-out'' looks. The `new- look' Esteem will have new design front grille, rear spoiler with stop lamp, wider tyres with full wheel covers, key less entry and alarm system, rear defogger, body colour handles and ORVMs all that give the Esteem a brand new dynamic and contemporary looks.Interiors too have been upgraded to further enrich the luxurious feel. New premium seat fabric, upgraded stereo, wood finish centre garnish and bezels and new speedometer dial colour add to its superb ergonomics. After overwhelming response to the Zen Diesel, Maruti has decided to initially introduce the Esteem Diesel in the South. The Esteem diesel will be powered by Peugeot's TUD5 1527 cc, 57 hp diesel engine. With this engine the Esteem diesel will offer best in class power to weight ratio to the customers. This will be available with the power steering option too. The introduction of upgraded variants of Esteem petrol and Esteem diesel will add excitement to the product and the brand. The launch has been timed to correspond with the peak sales season for the Esteem. And with the depreciation season round the corner, this car is all set to appear even more attractive to the target segment. Low maintenance cost, largest service network, high resale value and better acceleration 16 x 4 hypertech (16 bit computer and 4 valve per cylinder for quicker response acceleration and power) have always been the strong selling points for Esteem.
