Vimalabai Melkote passes away

HYDERABAD Jan. 12. Vimalabai Melkote, well known freedom fighter and former Minister in the erstwhile Hyderabad Government, died here on Sunday. She was 92.

Vimalabai along with her husband, late G.S. Melkote, took part in the freedom struggle and after Independence was involved in social activities. She was the first chairman of Hyderabad State Social Welfare Advisory Board and also president of Karnataka Sahitya Mandira, Karnataka Mahila Mandal, and Melkote College.

The body was kept at Karnataka Sahitya Mandira, Lingampally, to enable the public to pay last respects. Cremation would take place at the Bansilal electric crematorium at 11 a.m. on Monday.
