Cong. Ministers in Maharashtra to be sworn in tomorrow

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 23. The swearing-in of the Congress Ministers in the Maharashtra Government will take place on Saturday in Mumbai. The list will be finalised tomorrow after another round of talks with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, said.

Mr. Shinde, who arrived here on Wednesday, had an extended two-hour meeting with Ms. Gandhi this evening. Emerging from the meeting, he told mediapersons that "finishing touches" were being given to the list. "I want all my Ministers to unfurl the Tricolour in their constituencies on January 26'' he said.

Though both Mr. Shinde and the AICC general secretary, Vaylar Ravi, who was also present during the meeting, remained tight-lipped, it is learnt that some of the existing Ministers may be replaced and the current PCC chief, Govindrao Adik, may find a Ministerial berth. And a new PCC chief may be appointed.

Some new faces, particularly from the Vidharbha region, may find a place in Mr. Shinde's Cabinet.

Vidharbha has been a Congress stronghold and 27 of its 75 MLAs hail from the region.
