"Three user test flights (of one version) carried out recently have fulfilled the mission objectives, meeting the Army's stringent specifications,'' said an official statement. The performance of the Bharat Dynamics Limited manufactured missiles was comparable with contemporary missiles developed by Israel (Gill) and the United States (Javelin), it added. The tests were conducted on one of the three versions called imaging infra-red (IIR) passive seeker that ensures a "high-hit accuracy in both top and front attack modes,'' according to information on the missile. Plans to develop one version wire guidance system have been reportedly dropped. "The aim of these flight tests was to prove IIR sensor- based seeker guidance along with other specific qualitative requirements like performance of propellant and improvised algorithm for auto roll pilot,'' said the official statement. "All three tests achieved the range of 4 km and flight take off was smooth, hitting the targets with cent per cent accuracy,'' it said.
