Letters to the Editor
Sir, In The right to strike (Aug. 22), Rajeev Dhavan, in his concluding remarks rightly pointed out that the right cannot be wiped out in a few sentences. By holding strikes illegal, the Supreme Court has shackled trade unions and put organised labourers in the unorganised category.
A. Meenakshisundararajan,
* * * Sir, There is undoubtedly a case for a review. It is hoped that the Court will have the judicial courage of Justice P.N. Bhagwathi who in one of his judgments said: "To perpetuate an error is no heroism. To rectify it is the compulsion of judicial conscience."
T.V. Unnikrishnan,
* * * Sir, No doubt the verdict is severe. But there is no other solution for a State like Kerala where the right to strike is misused to such a degree that normal life is disrupted every so often and the State's progress hindered.
Anjali Swaroop,
