Not in our interest

Sir, — This refers to the Sri Lankan Prime Minister's suggestion for the construction of a land bridge between Talaimannar and Rameswaram (Aug. 25). For the last two years, Colombo has been making a multi-pronged promotion of this project. But it is not in our long-term security and strategic interests. It will also make the 160-year-old dream of the Sethusamudram project a non-starter.
