Smart rally in rupee

MUMBAI AUG. 26. Discounting the temporary overnight blips caused by the twin-bomb blasts, the rupee rallied smartly against the U.S. currency today on the back of strong exporter dollar sales and unwinding of long dollar positions by banks even as mild month-end pressures contained its gains.

In moderately active trading , the rupee closed at 45.8650/8750 a dollar, a fresh gain of nearly four paise from Monday's close of 45.90/92. — PTI
