Speakers at the function organised in the Senate hall lauded the varsity for producing stalwarts and celebrated personalities. Describing the university as a model one in the State, the Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Ajeya Kallam, announced a contribution of Rs.1.6 crore to the varsity for construction of an exclusive women's hostel. The university was also praised for surging ahead with a coordinated and concerted academic plan, designed keeping in mind the competition in the job market. The development-oriented research programme and socially-relevant extension activities were also acknowledged. As a second batch student of the varsity, the Tirupati MP and a former IAS officer, N. Venkataswamy, recalled the development during the tenure of the first Vice-Chancellor, S. Govindarajulu, and the efforts of the former President, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, in furthering it. In his veiled piece of advice to students to keep off politics on the campus, the MP asked them to acquire knowledge first before turning their attention to other fields. The statues of Mahatma Gandhi, the former chief minister, Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu, and S.Govindarajulu were garlanded on the occasion.
