Cash relief for bereaved family of constable

Pondicherry Sept. 2. The Inspector General of Police of Pondicherry, U.K. Katna, today gave a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to Indumathy who lost her husband M.Baskaran (a police constable) while he was on a trip to Mysore some months ago.

The amount was given to her under an insurance scheme operated by the police department in cooperation with the United India Insurance Company making use of Rs 20 lakhs earmarked for it from out of the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in 1995.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Anandh Mohan, the SP of Police, V. Raj Mohan, the Divisional Manager of the United Indian Insurance Company, N. Alagappan, the Senior Branch Manager, C. Raamesh, and the Development Officer, S. Sassi Segarane, were present.
