Panel summons 500 more sacked staff members

CHENNAI SEPT. 2. The panel of three former judges of the Madras High Court, now considering appeals by dismissed/suspended Tamil Nadu government employees, today sent notices to about 500 staff members of six more departments.

Employees of the Housing & Urban Development, and Information & Tourism departments have been asked to appear before the panel on September 11.

According to the spokesman of the panel, G. James, 163 notices have already been sent.

On September 12, over 140 staff members of the Labour & Employment, and Law Departments are to attend the proceedings.

The panel has sent 194 notices to employees of the Prohibition & Excise, and Municipal Administration & Water Supply departments, asking them to appear for a hearing on September 15.

Today, 148 employees attached to the Agriculture department appeared for an inquiry.

About 150 staff members of the Backward Classes & Most Backward Classes department and the Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection department has been asked to attend the proceedings tomorrow.
