By Our Special correspondent

NEW DELHI SEPT. 2. Volvo today came out with four new multi-axle heavy trucks and tippers. The four new models developed at a global R & D cost of Rs. 2900 crores and now introduced in the Indian market by the Swedish auto maker are: FM 12 6x4 and FM9 6x2 trucks and FM9 6x4 and FM9 8x4 tippers.

India, following rapid progress of the Golden Quadrilateral and other highway projects, has emerged as a big market for multi-axle trucks, Volvo India Managing Director, Ulf Nordqvist, told a press conference here. According to him, tippers will be positioned at the road construction and mining sectors, while trucks are suited for containers and petroleum tankers. These new range of trucks are from Volvo's global product portfolio and have been the group's biggest product overhaul in a decade.
