Cloud seeding from today

Bangalore Sept. 2. The aircraft from Weather Modification Inc. of the U.S., involved in Project Varuna, was grounded on Tuesday for routine maintenance. The aircraft will now be stationed in Hubli for one week for extensive seeding operations in North Karnataka, which will begin on Wednesday. Data collected by the Master Control Centre at Jakkur here showed rainfall, resulting from cloud seeding on Monday, in Kunigal as 14.2 mm, Marconahalli 4.2 mm, Turuvekere 15.20 mm, Mayasandra 19.2 mm and Hebbur 3.4 mm. The Government has decided to focus on the northern districts. Efforts are being made to provide necessary infrastructure for the ground support personnel, fuel for the aircraft and coordinates for targeting the right areas for seeding, according to the project personnel.
