Cong. panchayat chief voted out

By Our Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTMHITTA Sept. 2. The Aruvappuam grama panchayat president, Ratnamma M. Nair, of the Congress was voted out in a no-confidence motion moved by two UDF members today.

The UDF has seven members in the 12-member panchayat committee. Six of them belong to the Congress and one to the Kerala Congress(M).

The no-trust motion was moved by the Congress member and local mandalam committee president of the party, Kadakkal Prakash, and the lone Kerala Congress(M) member, Mini Idiculla.

All the remaining five UDF members kept away from today's panchayat committee meeting following a directive to that effect from the District Congress Committee.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ratnamma had submitted her resignation from the post on Monday in the wake of the no-trust move, Congress sources said.

All the five LDF members voted in favour of the no-trust motion.
