Gurkha falls to death from terrace

CHENNAI SEPT. 2. An 18-year-old Gurkha fell from the terrace of a residential apartment at Egmore and died last night. The Egmore police said Suba Ram hailing from Nepal slipped and fell.

In another incident, the identity of the youth who drowned in a lake at an abandoned quarry in Tirusulam yesterday has been established. Police gave the name of the deceased as Rajageeth (17), an eleventh standard student of a Corporation School in West Mambalam. According to police sources, he had come to his relative's house and gone for a swim, but did not return home.

Run over by train

A salesgirl of a textile showroom was run over by a BG EMU at Tirusulam last night. Parameswari, belonging to Villupuram, working at a showroom on Usman Road in T.Nagar, was crossing the tracks, while returning home, when an EMU proceeding towards Meenambakkam ran over. She was rushed to the Chennai GH, where she was declared `brought dead'.

Student ends life

A fourth-year student of an engineering college at Thandalam near Ambattur was found hanging in his house yesterday. Police identified him as Mahesh (20).

Man murdered by wife

A construction worker was allegedly murdered by his wife at their house near Anbazhaganar Lake at Tiruverkadu on Sunday. According to Tiruverkadu police, 35-year-old Lakshmanan, a construction worker was allegedly thrown into the well by his wife after she smashed his head with a boulder.
