Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Additional Commissioner of Police, A.K. Khan, said the trio was arrested while trying to sell a stolen Maruthi Zen car at Ramkote. The arrested included Gundla Vishnu Vardhan Reddy (23) of Mahabubnagar, Kondala Nageshwar Reddy (26) of Kurnool and Velga Veeraiah Chowdhary (27) of Prakasam district. Mr. Khan said the gang confessed to have committed theft of 12 cars and four motorcycles apart from their involvement in two housebreaking cases in which they allegedly stole computers. He put the total value of the stolen property at about Rs. 57 lakhs. The police so far recovered two Indica cars, two Maruthi Zen cars, one Bolero and a Tata Sumo along with computers, fax machine and two-wheelers, all worth Rs. 45 lakhs. Mr. Khan said the culprits were ex-convicts who committed thefts earlier in Neredmet, Shamshabad, Saroornagar, L.B. Nagar and Hayathnagar limits, while Vishnu Vardhan Reddy was charged with involvement in a murder case in Cuddapah and facing trial. He was also facing trial in Bellary of Karnataka and Kurnool in Excise cases, the Additional Commissioner said.
