Happy wins 400m gold

KARAIKUDI Sept. 3. H. Happy of PSNA College of Engineering and Technology won the gold in men's 400 metres on the opening day of the three-day Anna University zone-9 Inter-Engineering College athletic meet at Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology ground here on Wednesday. He clocked 56.15 seconds.

Dr. V.M. Periasamy, Principal, ACCET College, inaugurated the meet.

The results: Men: 400m: 1. H. Happy (56.15s), 2. M. Aravind (ACCET), 3. R. Raveendran (PSNA).

5000m: 1. M. Arunkumar (ACCET, 19:34.8s), 2. S.D. Yuvaraj (ACCET), 3. G. Vinodh (TCE, Madurai).

High jump: 1. Dominic Joe (SIT, Kariapatti, 1.56m), 2. Anto Sahayam (Pandyan Saraswathy Yadava Engg, Arasanur), 3. A. Babu (ACCET).

Women: 100m: 1. T. Srimathy (SACS, Madurai, 15.8s), 2. A. Madhumathi (SACS), 3. D. Suganya Roopa Vadana (King's Engg. Panalkulam).

800m: 1. G. Revathi (TCE, 2: 54.9s), 2. Padma Priya (TCE), 3. Surekha Pannu (ACCET).

High jump: 1. Sumithra Venkataraman (ACCET, 1.17m), 2. Lakshmi Gandhi (Shanmuga, Engg, Arasampatti), 3. Nancy (TCE).
