Pay more for better service, RTC MD tells parents

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Sept. 4. Mass transport is the only solution in the ever-increasing urban situation and to tackle aspects like pollution and lack of safety, according to R.P. Singh, Managing Director, APSRTC. At an interactive session organised by the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the Hyderabad Public School today, he said: ``All good things in life come at a price. If we have to offer exclusive services, people need to pay a little more. It is imperative that parents and teachers cooperate with us in the interest of children and their transportation.''

He said RTC executives were ready to sit with different sections of the public and come up with customised solutions. He asked parents to get in touch with the Regional Manager, Hyderabad, C. Pandurangamurthy, on their problems.

The president, HPS Society, M. Harishchandra Prasad, observed that use of mass transport had several advantages and wished every parent came together to use a safer mode of transport for children. The PTA chief, M. Bhaskara Rao, made a power-point presentation and offered suggestions for better transportation. Though the RTC had introduced special buses on five routes, there was lack of patronage from parents, he noted.

Different timings for schools, special stops for children and rationalisation of fares were suggested by parents.
