By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Sept. 4. The MIM nominee, Mohammed Mukhtada, on Thursday filed nomination for the Karwan byelection which was necessitated by the death of Syed Sajjad recently.

Mr. Mukhtada filed a set of four nominations. He also filed two affidavits - one regarding court cases, if any, and the other about his assets and educational qualifications. The filing of affidavits is for the first time as per the latest directives of the Supreme Court and the Election Commission.

The affidavits would be put up on the notice board and anyone could raise objection, said the Joint Collector, A. Vani Prasad, who is Returning Officer for Karwan.

Mr. Mukhtada came in huge procession in an open-top jeep. Asaduddin Owaisi, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLAs, accompanied him. Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Mukhtada reiterated desire to complete the `unfinished task' of late Sajjad. Saying that Karwan had 100 slums, he said he would develop them. The old slaughterhouse at Ziaguda would be modernised.

The West Zone police on Thursday registered a criminal case against Mohd. Mukhtada on the charge of violation of election code of conduct. The huge convoy which began in Habeebnagar police station limits and passed through Humayunnagar area caused a lot of inconvenience as crackers were burst on a large scale, the police said.

The procession caused traffic jams amounting to violation of the code of conduct. A case under Section 188 of the IPC has been booked.
