Actress presents bouquet to Pak. Rangers

Wagah Sept. 6. In a rare gesture, film star Urmila Matondkar presented a bouquet to the Pakistan Rangers exactly on zero line here today, amid tight security provided by the Border Security Force.

Matondkar, star of the film "Pinjar", is here on the occasion of the release of the film's audio cassette.

The director, Chanderprakash Dwivedi, and the music director, Uttam Singh, were present.

A few shots of the film, slated for release on October 10, were screened for the mediapersons.

Mr. Dwivedi said: "we have depicted the period of Partition of India and Pakistan which afterwards affected the lives of 12 million people who were uprooted and displaced." "Pinjar" is a saga of human strength during trying times and is based on the novel by Amrita Pritam.

"The film is the metaphorical representation of Partition and depicts the story of the division of lives seen and experienced by a young woman character in the film," he said.

"During the shooting and at the time of study of synopsis I personally realised the pain and plight of hundreds of women who were rendered homeless and were humiliated during Partition and at that time no one came out to protect them, except the poets of the contemporary period like Wareshah," Ms. Matondkar said. — PTI
