Harsh-Jason in semifinals

NEW DELHI SEPT. 6. Harsh Mankad and Jason Marshall of the U.S. reached the doubles semifinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Kiev, Ukraine.

The third-seeded Indo-U.S. combination got a walkover from wild card entrants Mikhail Filima and Orest Tereshchuk of Ukraine in the quarterfinals, after beating Stephane Bohli of Switzerland and Jan Minar of the Czech Republic 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 in the first round.

Liza loses: Liza Pereira made it to the singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals of the $10,000 ITF women's circuit tennis tournament on clay in Ben Aknoun, Algeria. The third-seeded Liza lost 2-6, 4-6 to the fifth-seeded Barbara Pocza of Hungary in the quarterfinals after beating Melanie Wolkersberger of Austria 6-3, 6-1. In doubles, Liza and Jennifer Schmidt of Austria were seeded No. 1. However, the duo went down 6-7 (3-7), 1-6 to the third-seeded Barbara Pocza and Petra Teller of Hungary in the semifinals after beating Lara Del Saz-De Soto of Spain and Melanie Wolkersberger of Austria 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
