Sri Lankan Airlines resumes direct flight to Bodh Gaya

NEW DELHI: Sri Lankan Airlines has resumed its direct flight from Colombo to Bodh Gaya, India's most famous Buddhist pilgrimage centre.

The flight UL 195, to operate once a week, every Monday from Colombo would connect Delhi on its return.

Sri Lankan Airlines resumed its operations on this circuit from September 1 and it handles 90 per cent of the island nation's total tourist traffic from Colombo and attracts 10 per cent from Southeast Asian countries.

Keeping in mind the increasing religious and historical significance of the city, the airlines hopes to increase its service by introducing two flights soon.

There has been a steady increase in tourism traffic between the two countries, according to a Sri Lankan Airlines release. The airline flies 46 flights in eight cities in India and plans to add Hyderabad to its list of destinations in the near future. — Our Special Correspondent
