Tight security for Sharon visit

NEW DELHI SEPT. 7. An advance plane carrying the military staff of the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here this evening. The team would review the security arrangements before Mr. Sharon's arrival on Monday evening.

The military attaché to Mr. Sharon has come here with sophisticated surveillance systems, arms and other gadgets. A core team comprising highly-trained operatives would accompany Mr. Sharon to all the places he is scheduled to visit.

The police said security at all roads leading to Taj Hotel on Man Singh Road, where Mr. Sharon would stay during his visit, has been stepped up and plainclothes police personnel deployed to keep watch over suspicious movements.
