Asia Cup: Muneer Sait is Tournament Director

Chennai Sept. 9. Former Olympian and goalkeeper, Muneer Sait, has been nominated as the Tournament Director by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the forthcoming Asia Cup to be held at Kuala Lumpur from September 21 to 28.

South Korea, the defending champion, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, China, Bangladesh and Hong Kong are the eight teams in the fray. The winner will be the automatic qualifier for the next World Cup at Germany in 2006.

Sait, who is also a member of the Competitions Committee in the FIH, has a wealth of experience in tournaments as a judge and in recent years has been Tournament Director for several important events like the Commonwealth Games at Manchester in 2001.
