Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Congress is no longer the king-maker in Uttar Pradesh, thanks to the split in the BSP which has boosted the number of Mulayam Singh Yadav's supporters. The State, long plagued by political instability and the whimsical rule of Mayawati, is crying for Mr. Yadav's undivided attention. For the Congress it is a case of being so near yet so far. D.B.N. Murthy, Bangalore * * * Sir, I congratulate Mr. Yadav for becoming Chief Minister for the third time. However, you have not condemned the horse-trading that has taken place. You criticised Kalyan Singh for indulging in horse-trading but do not want to adopt the same policy towards Mr. Yadav. This is not what I expected from a 125-year-old newspaper. A.P.V.S. Naga Mohan, Kazipet, A.P.
