English medium

Sir, — This refers to the news item "Let's do away with English medium" (Sept. 5). It is astonishing that the Human Resource Development Minister has made a strong plea for abolishing English as a medium of education. By mastering English, millions of Indians have found jobs throughout the world. Doing away with English will spell disaster.
