Jammu & Kashmir
Termed the Jammu and Kashmir Specified Wakfs and Specified Wakf Properties (Management and Regulation) Ordinance, 2003, it came into force immediately after its promulgation by the Governor last evening. It followed with the Government taking charge of 89 shrines and mosques, and 39 properties, including land, orchards and buildings, which were under the control of the Muslim Aquaf Trust (MAT). This was announced at a press conference today by the State Law Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
